About us
This chapter is dedicated to the enhancement of every mental health professional skills in play therapy.
How does play therapy work....
Children are refered for play therapy to resolve thier problems (Carmichael, 2006; Schaefer, 1993). in dealing with issues, children often runout of coping skill or are deficient in coping skills. Thus, they often misbehave, act out at home, school, and with frinds due to their inabiity to cope (Landredth, 2002).
Play therapy allows trained mental health praticioners who especialize in play therapy to assess and understand children thorough play. play therapy is utilized to help children cope in healthier ways while helping them deal with thier emotions and finding sioltions throught a natural way of expression-PLAY (moustakas, 1997; Reddy, Files-Hall & Schaefer, 2005).
Children are able to find heathier solutions by confronting problems in the clinical play therapy setting. Play therapy allows children to change the way they think and feel through therapeutic play (Kaugars & Russ, 2001). Even the most troubeling problemscan be confronted in play having lasting resolutions as they discover, reherse, master and form new adaptations through the use of coping straegies (Russ, 2004).
